We love Free Voluntary Reading! Besides language acquisition in general, my favorite time is when the students are putting their books away and pass my way to brag about their comprehension. I usually say something sassy like, “Of course you can understand everything.  YOU SPEAK SPANISH.” However, they didn’t seem in the mood to read last week! #Shocking. So, I spontaneously allowed them to read in pairs if the wanted to. It was such a fun surprise to see them reading aloud to each other, debating meaning, and laughing about content.  Sometimes you have to let the students have some extra fun during their FVR time. Why not?
